Optimize your reporting environment to enable business users to efficiently get the information they need when they need it, while providing a scalable “single version of the truth.”

Data Warehouse / Data Marts

Challenge: “We have volumes of data from our transactional systems but are unable to report on or analyze our business.”

Data Warehouses (enterprise level) and Data Marts (department or subject level) are repositories of integrated information (i.e., from disparate sources), available for queries and analysis. Data Warehouses are not just a larger or extended version of the source system. Unlike source systems which are typically transactional databases (OLTP) where the primary objective is to get transactions into the database as efficiently as possible, data warehouses are designed to get information out of the database as efficient and easy as possible (star schema or dimensional model).

A data warehouse should be planned and architected to serve as the “single version of the truth” for the enterprise or the department that it is serving. All intended consumer information should use the same solution. It should be noted that the data warehouse is only one part of the solution. Tools and processes must be established for getting the information out of the data warehouse and to the right person, at the right time, in the right format.

Artis Consulting has helped organizations of all sizes realize the value of their information assets via data warehouses and marts.

Data Integration (ETL)

Challenge: “We need a robust data integration solution that provides transparency into data transformation, quality and health of our data warehouse solution.”

Built upon the robust platform of SQL Server Integration Services, Artis Consulting has developed a framework that accelerates the integration of source transactional systems with a Business Intelligence solution.  Built to manage the extraction, transformation and loading of dimension and fact data, the meta data driven framework has template packages for multiple dimension and fact types that can be configured according to solution requirements.  The ETL Framework also supports Data Quality processing and allows for configurable scoring and events, again depending on the solution requirements.  Finally, the ETL Framework provides transparency into data integration via a series of reports designed not only to provide an audit trail of corporate data, but to provide metrics on the integration processes themselves.  Again, these reports are configurable based on the solution requirements.   Contact Artis Consulting to find out how this framework may benefit your organization.

Self Service Reporting

Challenge: “Our information consumers need a variety of reporting delivery options but we don’t want to deploy and support multiple software products.”

Reporting can quickly become a massive, never-ending effort and there are many reporting solutions on the market.  The challenge, for an overwhelming majority of companies like yours, is identifying who the users are (information consumers), what their needs are, and then developing an appropriate self-service solution set of reports that meets those needs.  Artis Consulting has assisted organizations deploy a broad array of reporting functionality such as parameterized reports, on-demand execution and subscription-based delivery leveraging SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Contact Artis Consulting to find out how your organization can benefit.

Ad Hoc Reporting

Challenge: “Analysts in our organization want to explore information in the warehouse or create simple reports but don’t have the technical skills to write queries.  What solutions are available to support them?”

Microsoft has invested heavily in end user tools to enable ad hoc reporting and analysis.  Whether leveraging the familiar interface of Excel or utilizing Report Builder in SSRS, Artis Consulting has assisted companies develop solutions that enable business users to explore data and generate reports without creating increased burden on IT staff.
